Death of a Legend

A tribute to the late Steve 'The Toker' Phelps

STompy:

"Yeah, I've lost my best friend. How does that saying go, 'It's better to have loved and lost to have never loved at all'? Sorta helps but time is the only real healer here, I think. Thankfully I have enough memories, log files and company to keep Steve in my heart forever.

"I've been struggling to write something for a couple of days so I've decided to speak of mainly what it was I shared with Steve and hope it carries over just how fond I was of the big guy."

<thetoker> i think we make an ideal team
<thetoker> but we are BOTH lazy fuckers
<STompy> yes, I am definately lazy as of late
<STompy> all this year infact :)
<thetoker> it maybe me "rubbing off on ya"
<thetoker> dont get the vaseline cos it AINT gonna happen

"Myself and Steve bonded pretty much instantly when I decided to join the #remakes channel on IRC (thanks Andrew!) and our friendship grew and continued to grow in leap and bounds as time went by. Surprisingly the friendship I have with Steve became stronger than most friendships I have ever had, online or offline. That's not to say we didn't have our differences, we did!"

<toke-XMAS> LOL
<toke-XMAS> u BASTARD
<toke-XMAS> u just made me miss the last scene of eastenders :(

"Remakes was always a weekly point of interest for the two of us to discuss in #ourhouse, we'd speak for hours about ways to enhance the site or clean it up. Of course, it was usually all talk! Laziness was something of our specialty"

<nitesleft5> i feel really lazy now
<STompy> now? :P

"Seriously though, lazy? You've go to me kidding me. Steve worked damn hard, he put in more than his fair share of hours at work and he would literally go out of his way to help others, brushing away his OWN problems. He was always generous with his time."

<STompy> shut up, you always do things yourself if you can :D
<thetoker> only between 7mths and 9mths after I first asked you to do it
* thetoker gets his coat

"A comic genius? Classed by many of us as just that! His happy demeanor made him a wonderful person to know, if you wanted a giggle then Steve was generally the man you'd go to. He could make any situation seem funny, even if the subject was as boring as "3DFX" ;)

"Anyway, to wrap this up as I'm just not finding the right words to do Steve justice. Steve, Big Man, Tokes... I'm going to miss you, we are all going to miss you"
